which ensure the possibility for guardians (caregivers) and adoptive parents to receive free
specialist services. The aim of the services is to provide multi-faceted, comprehensive
assistance to guardians and adoptive parents and children growing up in their families.
Services are provided both to existing guardians who already take care of children left
without parental care in their families and to the children themselves, as well as to persons
who plan and intend to become guardians or adoptive parents.
The purpose of the work: to describe the activities of the child welfare center "Shelter.
Work tasks:
1. Describe the activities of the welfare center.
2. Describe the welfare center's agenda, its goals and objectives.
3. Find out the mission and vision of this center.
Work problem: In Lithuania, states in various fields are responsible for the organization of
child care and special education and self-governing institutions: some ministries (Social
Security and Labour, Education and Science, Health, Internal Affairs), county departments of
social affairs, education, health, municipal children's rights protection services. Division of
functions and activities of these institutions coordination, forms and methods of cooperation
are not sufficiently regulated by law, as a result, many problems arise when organizing child
